Jeremy Tunstall's 4 character roles were: Domestic, Sexual, Consumer and Marital. The 4 character roles do not all fit with the film but the sexual character role is shown in Jules who we see as the more sexualised female due to the way she acts and dresses. Even though not all 4 character types in the film there are still certain elements in which we see some of the character types, for example we see the domestic elements within Dana because of the way that she cleans up and also pours people drinks when they start drinking in the cabin.
2. How is Dana typical of Clover's Final Girl theory? Please mention: the ending, Dana's appearance and her actions during the film.
Dana is very typical of Clover's Final Girl theory because she is considered the 'virgin' even though she isn't a virgin as she had sex with the professor who she is now longer with, we still know that she is considered a virgin compared to Jules who is more sexualised and hooks up more. When the group decide to do truth or dare Dana is already considered sensible and taking the easy/less daring route which is to tell the truth rather than a dare so from this we can tell that she has a reputation as being less daring and more sensible which refers back to the final girl theory as she is less of a 'dump blonde' that is normally killed. Dana's clothes are very closed and less revealing compared to Jules who wears short jeans and revealing shirts, stuff you could also say was 'quick entry' and 'sluttish'
Dana fights back which is typical as the final girl, much like in Halloween where we see Laurie fight back against Michael Myers and she fights back much more than the others in the film, for example when they are in the black room in the cellar where the family were murdered she took control and stabbed the zombie multiple times to help Holden, she has the strength which you would normally see males have in the film. Dana's name is also Uni-sex which also suggests that she is not feminine. Dana is considered more focused than the others especially when we see that she wanted to bring her college work with her on the trip shows that she cares about her education and is smart.
3. Jules undergoes mental and physical transformations during the film, what are they and how do they cause her to become a horror archetype?

At the start of the film we know that Jules changes her hair colour from a darker colour to now blonde and as we know the typical person to be killed first in the movie is the 'dumb blonde whore' and because of this change we automatically see as dumber due to the stereotypes that blondes have in movies, even though we know this is planned because the scientists down below talk about how they tampered with her hair dye to make her dumber it still exemplifies the horror archetype that blonde's are normally more stupid than the others and dies first.
4. Is Mulvey's Male Gaze theory exemplified in the film and if so, how? Think about framing, camera, angles and POV shots.
Mulvey's Male Gaze theory is exemplified a lot in the film and one of the main theorys that we see within the film.The camera angles are typically objectifying women with the low shots and the many rear shots we see of Jules (Probably more than we actually see her face) An example of this is when Jules is dared to kiss the wolf she does it in a matter that is considered 'sexy' and the camera angle exemplifies this because of the slow pan up as we see her strutting her way over to the wolf.
Another example is when they are in the forest and she takes off her clothes but we only see her take off her clothes and Curt doesn't which shows that in that situation it is all for the male pleasure and this is also expanded because the camera cuts into the lab where we see all the male scientists with their jaws lower than their chins waiting for her to undo her top.
5. In the film we, as an audience, are made to be voyeurs; when does this happen and why is it important in regards to representation of character?
Voyeur's are those who gain sexual pleasure from watching others when they are naked or engaged in sexual activity, In the film this happens when Holden see's Dana through the one sided mirror where we can see that she is getting changed and is in her lingerie. We see that Holden is questioning whether it is morally right that he looks so he does the good and honest thing which is to tell Dana he can see her. He even offers to switch rooms with her if that would make her more comfortable so we see that Holden is represented as a caring character and more of a gentlemen than the other men in the film, for example all the scientists in the lab gawking at Jules's naked body. Even though they switch rooms the roles have now reversed and we see Holden getting changed and Dana is still viewing him and also questioning whether to look or not but she decided to do the honest thing too and try to put the picture up and she also finds it horrible so she covers it with a blanket, because of this we can see that both are very honorable or the other persons body and how they want to share it.
6. (Briefly) summarize the way women are represented in The Cabin in the Woods. Are they objectified and there to provide satisfaction for heterosexual males and/or do they fulfill another role/purpose
The women are represented as sexual objects in The cabin in the woods for the satisfaction of the male viewers and also the males within the film (Curt and The scientists) During the theme there is a lot of nudity/revealing shot for example you have the starting scene where Dana is in her underwear and throughout you see the girls in their underwear almost as much as you do with them wearing clothes. During the theme there is a lot of talk about the romances that the two girls have and also sex, this gives you the representation that they care about their relationships with boys then they do other things, especially with Jules who we know isn't stupid because she goes to college but because of the way the film represents her (Blonde and horny) we get the impression that she focuses more on that than her own education. While the group are at the cabin we see that Jules is not shy when it comes to her body and is there for the pleasures of the male, a perfect example of this is when she is dancing in front of the fire and actually ends up dancing in front or Marty even though curt is there which suggests she possibly gets around, The camera shots emphasize this and show that its also for the pleasure of the males watching the film.
